Description

Bwthyn Anne comprises five 1½-storey cottages at 2–10 Wexham Street, built as a terrace with painted pebble-dashed walls and a steep slate roof. The chimney stacks are rendered in roughcast and have been reduced in height.

Each cottage follows a consistent original design with a central doorway, flanking windows, and a gabled dormer positioned above the doorway. Photographs from around 1912 and 1937 show that Nos 4 and 6 originally had raked dormers, since replaced with gabled versions.

No 2 has a replacement half-glazed door and gabled canopy, with renewed 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows.

No 4 features smooth-rendered surrounds to its openings. The door is in early 20th-century style with half-glazed panels and leaded lights, positioned beneath a slate canopy on brackets. The lower storey has 4-pane horned sash windows, with a matching 6-pane window in the dormer.

No 6 has a fielded-panel door under a gabled canopy, and renewed 4-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows.

No 8 is larger than the preceding cottages. It has a modern panel door with a glazed panel in a rendered surround with a simple bracketed canopy. Windows are renewed 12-pane horizontal-sliding sashes, with a 2-light small-pane casement in the dormer.

No 10, the largest in the row, has a half-glazed door with fielded panels and Gothic intersecting glazing bars, set in a freestone surround with moulded cornice. Windows are 2-light casements. A rubble-stone garden wall with a boarded door is attached to the left end.

The left gable end of No 10 contains a small stair light positioned right of centre. At the rear, No 10 has a replacement window to the right below a skylight, with a long 1-storey pebble-dashed wing extending to the left, featuring a slate roof and 20th-century detailing. No 4 has been raised at the rear and has a gabled 2-storey wing with a monopitched projection. The rear of No 2 has also been raised and has an added 1-storey projection.
