Description

Gleneffock Bridge, built in 1887 by engineer W Grant of Kirriemuir and contractor P & W MacLellan from Clutha Iron Works in Glasgow, is a wrought-iron single-span bow-string bridge. It features lattice-trussed arched parapets and a timber deck, supported by concrete piers with splayed coped-rubble wing walls. A maker's plate is cast onto the top of each arched girder. Additionally, there is a shield plaque attached to each side of the parapet, inscribed with "1874 ERECTED BY THE RIGHT HONORABLE FOX MAULE RAMSAY EARL OF DALHOUSIE."
