Description

42 Port Street in Stirling is a building designed by John Allan and dated 1897. It features a curious free-style architectural design with four storeys and an attic. The ground floor accommodates shops, while the main facade has a four-window centre flanked by bays that have shaped gables facing Dumbarton Road. On Port Street, there is an oriel bay, and the corner of the building has a four-window quadrant topped with a timber and lead cupola that has a distinctive ringed, funnel-shaped outline. The roof is a slated mansard style, complete with arched dormers.
