Description
South Church, located at 67-69 Murray Place in Stirling, was designed by J, W H and J M Hay from Liverpool and built between 1851 and 1853 in the Late Decorated style. The church features a rubble-built, five-bay nave with aisles and a clerestory, and it has an apse at the southwest. The northeast gable faces Murray Place, while the northwest corner includes a tower with an octagonal stair turret. The belfry stage has two lancet windows, and the stone spire is well-proportioned, complete with pinnacled broaches and lucarnes. The church is situated on an elevated site, which is enhanced by a twin archway and a perron.
