3 Long Row, Rosedale Street, New Lanark

4 Long Row, Rosedale Street, New Lanark, dates from around 1792 and is a significant 42-bay terrace. It has two storeys on the north side and three on the south due to the sloping ground. The terrace features gabled ends at the west and a piended roof at the east, originally built to house mill workers, with each unit being one room deep. The construction is of random rubble with dressed ashlar details, and it has long and short quoins.

The building displays regular fenestration with tabbed margins and consists of symmetrical three-bay units, each featuring a central door flanked by windows on both the north and south elevations. The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes ashlar-coped ridge stacks topped with small black cans. The terrace also has cast-iron rainwater goods.
