23-24 Double Row, Rosedale Street, New Lanark

9-10 Double Row, Rosedale Street, New Lanark is a late 18th century terrace of mill workers' houses, built in two phases. This three-storey building, with four and five storeys to the south, features 24 bays and is situated on a sloping site, designed to be two rooms deep. The structure is made of random sandstone rubble with droved ashlar dressings, and it has long and short quoins. The fenestration is regular, with tabbed margins, and the symmetrical three-bay units each have a central door flanked by windows on both the north and south elevations. There are stair windows located between the second and third floors on the south elevation, with small square windows directly above them between the third and fourth floors. The windows predominantly feature 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The building has gable and ridge stacks with small cans, and the skews are ashlar-coped, topped with grey slates.

Inside, most of the original tenement houses have been restored for use as dwellings. No. 11, known as the Museum Stair (bays 19-21), has remarkably preserved original features and materials, including the original timber stair, timber partitions, some fireplaces, sinks, 'set-in' beds, remnants of original wallpaper (which is several layers thick in places), and original linoleum floor covering.
