Description
Carnell House is a complex building, incorporating elements from the 16th to 19th centuries. One end features a well-preserved tower, with a marriage stone dated 1576, which is now located inside the tower. Another section represents a smaller building of later date, with its own staircase tower and cap house. The space between these elements was filled in the 19th century with a large Victorian mansion designed by William Burn, for which original drawings dated 1843 are held by the owner. Later additions and alterations were undertaken in 1871 by the architect Charles Reid.
