Description

Dalquharran Castle is a mansion designed in the castle style by Robert Adam, built around 1790 for Thomas Kennedy of Dunure, who married Adam's sister Jean. The castle features a round tower and a central stair, similar to those found at Culzean Castle. The principal rooms originally boasted fine decoration. In 1881, wings in a similar style were added by Walker and Son of Belgravia. In front of the main entrance, there is a long low stable range that is an integral part of the design, connected at either end to the main building by screen walls with gateways.
