Sundial, Walled Garden, Kimmerghame House

The Walled Garden at Kimmerghame House dates from the mid-19th century and is a rectangular space measuring approximately 60 by 80 meters. The walls are constructed of rubble sandstone, lined with brick and topped with ashlar coping, standing at heights of around 11 and 15 feet. The walls curve upwards at intervals to slightly higher sections, each adorned with urn finials.

There are contemporary stone mono pitch stores attached to the exterior, featuring doors and 12-pane sash and case timber windows, a corrugated asbestos roof, and stone coped skews, with a single flue visible at the wallhead. The gateways have ashlar surrounds, with one being rusticated and featuring a keystone, while the other has a heraldic panel above. The walls curve downwards and end with an ashlar pier topped with a fine stone urn, adjacent to a coped ashlar dwarf wall. Additionally, there is a cast-iron urn located near the greenhouses.

The north wall of the garden has lean-to greenhouses built against it, which have a brick and ashlar base, vertically glazed walls, and a small-pane glazed roof with pivot sections. A door is located on the side of the greenhouses. In the garden, there is also a slate sundial with a gnomon set on a stone baluster pedestal.
