Description

Whinkerstones Farm Cottage is a pair of single-storey with attic, three-bay semi-detached cottages built in the later 19th century, which have been altered and extended. The cottages feature Tudor details and have been combined into one with a full-length, flat-roofed addition at the rear. The exterior is constructed from squared and snecked tooled cream sandstone, with sandstone ashlar dressings. Notable features include tooled quoins, tooled long and short surrounds to chamfered openings, timber mullions for bipartite windows, and projecting cills. The rear addition is dry-dashed.

On the south elevation, there is a part-glazed boarded timber door in the penultimate bay to the outer right, with moulded brackets beneath a pentice porch. The outer right bay has a single window, while the left bay features a bipartite window. The penultimate bay to the outer left, which was formerly a door, has a single window with moulded brackets beneath a pentice porch, and there is a single window in the outer left bay along with a bipartite window in the bay to the right.

The west side elevation has a single window centered at the upper floor beneath a surmounting stack, with the flat-roofed addition recessed to the left. The north rear elevation includes a full-length addition with square-headed doorways offset to the left and right of center, along with single and bipartite windows in the remaining bays. There are tripartite box dormers on the outer left and right.

The east side elevation features a single window centered at the upper floor beneath a surmounting stack, with the flat-roofed addition recessed to the right. The windows predominantly have lying-pane glazing in timber sash and case frames, with some four-pane windows at the rear. The roof is covered in grey slate, with raised stone skews and replacement rainwater goods. The ridge and apex stacks are corniced and consist of paired brick flues, although the circular cans are missing on the east side.

The interior was not seen in 1998.
