27 Main Street, Cumbernauld Village

23 Main Street in Cumbernauld Village is a mid to late 19th-century building that has undergone later alterations. It consists of two properties that are part of a terrace, adjoining Numbers 17-21 to the east, which are listed separately. The building features a single-storey, three-bay shop at Number 23, which has a forestair leading to a modern part-glazed door in the central bay, a bipartite window in the left bay, and a single window in the right bay. There is also a square-headed pend entrance to the outer right.

To the right, Number 27 also has a single-storey, three-bay shop with a part-glazed modern door located in a bay offset to the right of centre, and a bipartite window in each of the flanking bays. Number 25, which adjoins Number 27, forms an L-plan block at the rear and has a pitched-roofed porch with a boarded door in a bay offset to the left of centre, along with a window in the right return; the remaining bays are obscured.

The exterior is harled with painted margins around the openings, and features block cills. The ground level has modern large shop windows, while the upper parts predominantly have two-pane timber sash and case windows. The roofs are covered with grey slate, and there is a coped rubble ridge stack on Number 23 and a corniced brick stack on the east gable of Number 27. The building also has predominantly uPVC rainwater goods. The interiors were not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
