10 Victoria Terrace, Inverness

4 Victoria Terrace in Inverness is a three-storey terrace built in 1897, likely by architect Alexander Ross. It consists of eleven two-bay houses featuring gothic and castellated details. The second floor has gabled dormerheads that break the eaves. The structure is made of squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, and there are hoodmoulds above the principal doorways. A continuous hoodmould course links and oversteps the first-floor windows, and there is an eaves course.

On the southeast elevation, houses numbered 2 to 9 are arranged in pairs with a four-bay layout. The ground floor features pointed-arch doors in the center bays, with single windows above on the first floor. The second floor has tall shared gabled dormerheads above bipartite or paired windows, while the flanking bays contain either tripartite or bipartite windows on the ground and first floors, with single windows on the second floor. Notably, at houses 4 and 5, the second-floor windows above the entrance bays share a Flemish gablehead. The corner entrance tower of house 1 has a pyramidal roof, a shoulder-arched door, and a bipartite window on the return to the left (Auldcastle Road). Above, there are pointed arch bipartite windows on the first floor and smaller windows in the attic, with a Lombard frieze on the return and a shield panel. House 12 is set at an angle.

The northwest (rear) elevation has an irregular arrangement of stair projections, except for house 3. The interior, not seen in 2001, features back staircases in several properties, indicating their status. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in timber sash and case frames, and several houses retain panelled doors. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are carved crocket finials on the gablet copes and stone-coped mutual gable stacks.

The front walls include dwarf walls enclosing the front gardens, where railings have been removed. The terrace is situated on falling ground to the southwest, with a short flight of steps leading to houses 1 to 3.
