Description
20 Argyle Square in Wick is a pair of semi-detached townhouses designed by Thomas Telford around 1840. These two-storey, three-bay houses have a symmetrical rectangular plan and face northeast onto Argyle Square. They are constructed from squared and tooled, long coursed Caithness stone slabs. The front elevations feature regular window arrangements, while the rear and gable ends have irregular fenestration.
For No. 20, the principal elevation includes a central door and a blocked doorway to the left, with a rooflight positioned in the center. No. 22 also has a central door, flanked by blocked doorways, and features gabled wallhead dormers.
The interiors were not inspected in 2001. The houses are fitted with plate glass sash and case windows, covered with grey slates, and have skews and coped gable stacks with a string course. They also include cast-iron rainwater goods.
