Description
335-341A Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow is a classical tenement building dating from around 1850. It stands four storeys tall and features painted ashlar stonework. All the windows are sash and case, framed with architraves and set on cill bands, with some having 12-pane glazing.
The elevation facing Sauchiehall Street consists of 29 bays divided into four sections of 8-8-8-5. The central and end sections project forward and are accented with rusticated quoins. There is a late 19th century shopfront at No 335. The first and second floor windows have cornices, with brackets on the last five bays, and the building is topped with a mutule eaves cornice.
The elevation to Holland Street has 10 bays, with the second and fourth bays being blind. It features a partial dentil cornice on the first floor and a Doric pilastered close entry with a fanlight at No 150. There is a corniced cill band at the second floor, and the first and second floor windows also have cornices. The building has corner shopfronts and a public house front on Holland Street, designed by Clarke and Bell in 1906.
Inside, there is a billiard hall and a public house, both designed by Clarke and Bell.
