Description
22 Huntly Gardens in Glasgow is a terrace of 14 houses built around 1880, arranged in two bays and stepping up a slope. The buildings are three storeys high, with a basement, and houses numbered 30 to 34 also feature attics. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar, with some areas painted or cleaned.
Each house has a two-storey canted window that rises from the basement to the first floor on the left side. To the right, there are steps that extend over the basement leading to a doorpiece supported by consoles. Houses numbered 21 to 29 have tripartite doorpieces with glazed sidelights and a fanlight above, while houses 30 to 34 feature double-leaf panelled doors. The vestibule door for these houses is also tripartite with glazed sidelights and a fanlight. Above the door, there is a single-light window with a consoled cornice.
On the second floor, there are three plain windows, all of which are sash windows with plate glass glazing. A cornice runs between the floors of the canted windows. The second floor windows of houses 30 to 34 have a cill band, and there is a band course at the eaves topped with a mutule cornice. Additionally, houses 30 to 34 have a continuous lower dormer below the ridge, which likely lights a billiard room, and this dormer is mostly adorned with roof brattishing. The buildings feature axial stacks and slate roofs.
There is a low ashlar wall at the basement level, with some sections having cast-iron railings. The stairs and platform over the basement are also enclosed with cast-iron railings and supported by squat square ashlar piers.
