Description
17 Belmont Crescent in Glasgow is a terraced crescent of 16 houses built between 1869 and 1870. The building features two storeys over a basement, with a prominent three-storey central pavilion that has nine bays. Each house has a three-bay elevation, constructed from polished ashlar stone that is channelled at the ground level and has been cleaned.
Steps lead down to tall doorpieces that oversail the basement. All upper windows are framed with architraves and cornices at the first floor of the pavilion. The windows are sash style with plate-glass glazing. There is a band course at the upper floor cills and an eaves course adorned with an incised geometric pattern, topped by a mutule cornice. The building has axial stacks and slate roofs, along with decorative cast-iron railings leading to the steps and basement. Additionally, there is a circa 1900 coloured leaded glass inner door at No 18.
