Description

Circa 1858-64. Quadrangular 3-storey tenement block,

classical. Symmetrical, stepped in slope to S. 34 x 17

bays. Polished ashlar, partly painted with linostone. All

windows sash and case in architraves, mainly with

12-pane glazing. Blocking course, raised to parapet in

N.S.E. and W end pavilions.

Elevation to Lawrence Street: 7-20-7 bays. Alternating

close and main door entries with pilastered, dentil

corniced doorpieces. 7-bay end sections. Advanced

tripartite windows in outer bays of ground floor cornice.

1st floor cill band, windows console corniced or block

pedimented with sculpted relief in tympanum.

Elevation to Hyndland Street: repeats detailing of

Lawrence Street in 17 bays arranged 6-5-6 in slope.

N and E elevations repeat opposite elevations. Corniced

axial stacks. Slate roof.
