Description
143 Wilton Street in Glasgow is a group of three-storey and basement houses built around 1860, arranged in a convex crescent. The houses at numbers 143 and 145 have three bays, while numbers 163 and 165 have four bays. Number 147 is a sympathetic infill from 1881 that follows the stepped curve of the crescent. The buildings feature an ashlar stone frontage and a channelled ground elevation. There is a cornice above the ground floor, with cill courses on the first and second floors, and a modillion eaves cornice. The doorways are tripartite with panelled storm doors. The windows on the first and second floors are architraved and corniced, with sash and case windows that have plate glass glazing.
The south-facing elevation of numbers 163 and 165 has five bays, with two of them set back. A three-storey canted window occupies the western three bays. Both the west and south elevations have parapets. A shop has been inserted at the basement level. Numbers 143, 145, and 163, 165 feature lugged architraves on the first floor. Some cast-iron railings are also present.
