Description

The statue of a tigress with her cubs and a peacock, created by sculptor A Cain in 1866 to a design by R Bonheur, is a lifesize bronze group cast in Paris by F Barbedienne. It was relocated in the early 20th century and now stands on a low concrete base. The statue is supported by a white marble base dated 1867, which is further elevated by a polished pink granite pedestal made by Mossman. An inscription on the west side of the base records the statue's donor, John S Kennedy.
