Description
2 Botanic Crescent in Glasgow is a terrace of three-storey and basement houses built around 1870. The houses are arranged in two bays and are partly stepped up the hill, following a curve. Constructed of painted ashlar, each house features a wide doorway with pilasters and a cornice supported by brackets, elevated over near ground-level basements. They have well-crafted panelled storm doors, and some inner doors include etched glass. The design includes a canted window from the basement to the first floor, a single architraved corniced window above the door, and three windows on the second floor set in plain architraves with bracketed sills that connect to a cill course. The ground and first floor windows are aligned on the cill course, and there is a simple cornice above the ground floor. The main cornice is adorned with modillions, and there is a variety of poorly detailed attics. Decorative cast-ironwork is present on the rails of the steps.
