Description

Ascot Cinema, located at 1544 Great Western Road in Glasgow, was designed by architect C J McNair in 1939. Originally a super cinema, it was converted into flats with the façade retained in 2001. The building features a symmetrical stepped elevation facing Great Western Road, with curved three-quarter height stair towers at the outer bays. The central block is recessed and has five bays, with an entrance on the ground floor and windows on the first floor. The walls are rendered and painted white, with some exposed band courses. The stair towers are adorned with cream faience tiling, accented by bands of contrasting colour near the top.
