121 Greenhead Street, Glasgow

117 Greenhead Street in Glasgow is a four-storey, 16-bay tenement built in 1866, featuring classical detailing and situated prominently overlooking Glasgow Green. The building has a canted angle at the single bay corner elevation and is constructed from polished yellow ashlar, which is channelled at the ground level on the west side, with ashlar dressings throughout.

The design includes a band course above the ground floor, a cill course at the first and third floors, an eaves lintel course, a cornice, and a balustraded parapet that is punctuated by broad wallhead stacks. The windows above the ground floor are architraved, with those on the first and second floors corniced, and the second floor windows are bracketed, featuring stone mullions.

The principal elevation faces Greenhead Street to the west and has doors located at bays 3, 8, 12, and 15. There is a variety of single and bipartite windows that are aligned vertically, with some bays, specifically 3 and 8, being blocked above ground. The building also features four symmetrically placed wallhead stacks that connect the parapet with fireclay balusters. The northwest corner has a single window on each floor of the canted bay, and there are seven similarly detailed single window bays along Tullis Street, with bays 6 and 7 blocked above ground.

The windows are primarily timber sash and case, with a mix of four-pane and plate glass glazing patterns. The roof is covered with grey slate, and the corniced ashlar wallhead stacks have a full complement of cans. A dwarf wall at the principal elevation is topped with cast iron railings.
