Description

Osborne Buildings, located at 123, 125, and 127 Douglas Street in Glasgow, dates from around 1845 and is a four-storey classical tenement with shops. The building is constructed of polished ashlar, featuring sash and case windows that are architraved and corniced at the first and second floors, with mainly 12-pane glazing. A continuous mutule cornice runs along the top.

The elevation facing Sauchiehall Street consists of 30 bays arranged in three sections (8-14-8), with an attic in the last four bays of the eastern section. There are recessed Doric pilastered close entries with fanlights at Nos 271, 281, and 303. The shopfront at No 305 dates from the late 19th century and features column glazing bars. The first floor has a cornice, and there is a cill band at the third floor, with central stacks on the roof.

The elevation to Pitt Street has 10 bays, with the second and third bays from the north being blind. The ground floor features two close entries that project forward with a cornice, two windows to the right of No 192, one window to the left of No 198, and one entry that has been altered from an original window. The upper windows are symmetrically arranged, following the pattern of the Sauchiehall Street elevation.

The Douglas Street elevation also has 10 bays arranged in two sections (5-5), with the second and third bays from the east being blind. It features two shopfronts with dentil cornices and a similar window arrangement to that of Pitt Street, along with three wallhead stacks.
