Description

15-21 Duke Street in Glasgow is a four-storey building, likely designed by Burnet, Boston and Carruthers around 1905, showcasing Scottish 17th century architectural details. The front and sides are constructed from red sandstone ashlar, while the rear features cream ashlar. The ground floor retains its original shop fronts with timber doorcases topped by pediments. Above, there are ashlar open pediments leading to closes, with the one on the right being segmental. A moulded cornice runs above the ground floor, and there is a gabled bay at the center, flanked by crow-stepped gables on the outer bays. The first and second floors feature canted windows in the center bay, a flanking bay to the left, and an outer bay to the right, all corbelled to square above. The building has mostly single windows, but there are some stone mullioned bipartite and tripartite windows. Two second-floor windows have pediment heads, and two have cornices, with a Glasgow shield located below the second-floor window above the right close. A broken segmental panel is present in the gablehead bipartite at the center.

On the elevation facing Birrell's Lane, the building has a gabled design with stacks on the left and center, and a flat-roofed bay on the right, featuring both bipartite and single windows.
