7 Beaconsfield Road, Kelvinside, Glasgow

23 Cleveden Road in Kelvinside, Glasgow, is a building constructed in 1883, likely by H and D Barclay. It is a long, curving terrace made of buff sandstone, featuring two-and-a-half and three storeys, plus a basement. The facade is primarily polished ashlar, although some houses are painted or made of linostone. The central and end sections are raised to three full storeys and a basement, while the intervening sections are two storeys with mansarded attics and stone pedimented dormers. The windows are plain and lack architraves, and there is a continuous consoled balcony with cast iron work that is interrupted at the central window of regular canted bays, which also features cast iron brattishing. A cornice runs along the first floor of the lower sections and the raised ends and centre. The basement areas and ground floor flying staircases are enclosed with cast iron railings. Most windows are sash and case with plate glass, and the building has a slate roof with corniced axial and wallhead chimney stacks.

The interiors have not been fully seen, except for No. 31, which features a Glasgow Style refurbishment from around 1900, likely by George Walton. This includes a first-floor study with a plaster groin vault, padded leather walls with stylised timber framing, leaded glass fitted cabinets, and a fine chimneypiece with intricate Glasgow Style detailing, including incised work and beaten copper panels. The entrance hall also has a fine chimneypiece, and there is stylised panelling in the stairwell, along with stained glass in the stair and study.

No. 33 Cleveden Road includes a large decorative stained glass window, possibly by Stephen Adam, with detail panels in the lower section depicting allegorical figures representing sculpture and music.

No. 41 Cleveden Road features a refurbishment by William Leiper, notable for its ornate timber panelling, a marble chimneypiece with a carved timber overmantel, and a series of stained glass windows by David Gauld.
