Description
12-14 Argyll Arcade in Glasgow is an L-plan, two-storey arcade designed by John Baird I in 1827, connecting Argyle Street and Buchanan Street. The ground floor features modern shop fronts, although some pilasters from 1827 have been retained. The first floor windows have 16-pane glazing, separated by pilasters and topped with a continuous dentil cornice. There are curved windows at the entrance blocks and a curved bay at the junction. The dividing cornice is adorned with shields. Inside, there is a winding stone stair and a glazed cast-iron hammerbeam roof.
