Description
310 Maryhill Road in Glasgow is a building likely designed by Watson and Salmond around 1920. It is primarily a two-storey structure with 11 bays, serving as public halls and commercial premises. The exterior is made of red sandstone ashlar, featuring channelled ashlar at the center and pilasters that divide the bays, with brick used for the rear halls. The windows are sash and case style with small panes.
The centerpiece of the building is a three-bay section that is slightly advanced from the rest. It has a recessed entrance at the top of steps, with three windows above. The recessed arch extends through the cornice line, incorporating a clock and two small flanking windows. This section features a bold keystone and a corniced parapet. The outer bays include two small windows at the ground level, with Ionic columns in antis flanking the pedimented windows on the first floor, and tripartite windows above the main cornice.
The outer bays house shops at ground level, with two narrow corniced and architraved windows above. A cornice runs over these bays, except for the wider outer bays, which are topped with pediments and parapets.
There are arched gateways at both the north and south ends of the building. The rear features plain halls.
