Description
The Old Forge is a 17th-century building located at 16 North Street, Kingsbarns. It is originally a single-storey forge, with a later modern dormer. The exterior is constructed of large, droved squared rubble with a pantile roof. A datestone bearing the initials “DA HM” is set within a scrolled skew-put with cable moulding. The original layout comprised two windows and a centre door, which has now been built up as a window. A garage forms part of the former smithy. The building is listed at Grade C, reflecting its group value. This means the building is recognised as contributing to the wider character and interest of the surrounding area. The listing applies to both the interior and exterior, as appropriate. The statutory address includes the garden walls and garage.
