Description
Later to late 19th century, refurbished circa 1990. 3-storey tenement with attic over shops, altered at ground. Elliptical-arched pend at centre below recessed bay. Polished ashlar with stone cills and eaves course, cornice; harled to rear.
S (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Recessed bay at centre.
2 shops (merged to 1) to right with unifying cornice and black tiled surround, in-canted glazed entrances, decorative tiled division; awnings and moulded string course. 2 irregular shops to left each with 2-leaf part-glazed recessed door at centre; inner left shop face with traditional detailing, chamfered pilaster to W, fluted Ionic pilaster to E and corniced fascia board; outer left with modern surround. All doors with plate glass fanlights. Regular fenestration in 7 bays at 1st and 2nd floors; 4 modern swept dormer windows with 19th century rooflights between.
N ELEVATION: centre pend to left of advanced 4-bay block to W with projecting stair to left of centre, windows to each floor, swept dormer windows over 2nd and 4th bay. 3-bay block to E with centre projecting stair, windows to each floor, swept dormer windows over 1st and 3rd bays.
Mainly timber 12-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows, plate glass glazing in sash and case windows at 1st floor S to right of pend. Grey slates and coped ashlar skews. Stacks removed.
