Description

109-115 High Street in Burntisland is a mid 19th century, three-storey tenement building that has undergone later alterations at the ground level. The building features piend-roofed dormers and shops on the ground floor. The left side of the ground floor is finished in painted cement render, while the right side has a black faience Art Deco fascia. Above the ground floor, the building is constructed of coursed, dressed ashlar with string courses between the floors and an eaves course, along with raised margins and quoin strips, and stop-chamfered arrises.

On the south elevation facing High Street, there is an Art Deco shop on the right, which includes metallic hoodmoulds and lettering, and a deep-set central door with glazed returns and flanking windows. To the left, there are two shops that have been merged into one, featuring a central division. Each shop has a deep-set outer door, a glazed inner return, and a window with a roll-moulded cill and stone surround, all topped with basket-arched heads. There is also a pend door to the right and a wide fascia board above. All doors are fitted with plate glass fanlights. The upper floors have a six-bay fenestration pattern grouped in twos and fours, with slate-hung dormer windows over the second, third, and sixth bays, and a 19th century fanlight over the fourth bay.

The ground floor has fixed plate glass glazing, while the first-floor bays to the left feature timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing. The other windows are modern pivot style. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are ashlar coped skews and stacks with some cans.
