51-53 High Street, Kirkcaldy

55, 57, and 59 High Street in Kirkcaldy is an office block with shops at ground level, built in the earlier to mid 19th century. It is three stories tall with an attic and features eight bays, constructed from droved ashlar stone. The building has a cill course on the second floor and an eaves course.

The south elevation facing High Street has a modern shop to the right of the center, with a basket-arched pend entrance that includes a plate glass fanlight. To the left of this entrance is an Edwardian shop front with an in-canted door, a display window to the right, and dividing columns on the outer right. There are two modern shops flanking the door to the left of the center. The upper floors have regular fenestration, and piended dormer windows are present over bays one, four, five, and eight.

The windows consist of 6-pane over plate glass, as well as 4- and 16-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar ridge stacks with polygonal cans, ashlar-coped skews, and cast-iron downpipes featuring decorative rainwater hoppers.
