Description

Lassodie Mill is a farmhouse dating from 1730, with earlier to mid-19th century alterations, and a steading that originates from the 18th century, also featuring 19th century modifications.

The farmhouse is a 5-bay, 2-storey structure that was originally 3-bay and extended to the left in the earlier to mid-19th century. It is located to the northwest of the mill steading and has harled walls with painted margins. The principal elevation features a central door leading into the original part of the house, which has a panel above the door and a small window on the first floor. The windows in the flanking bays are larger on the first floor. The later bays to the left include a door on the right side and a window above, along with windows on both floors in the outer bay. There is a lean-to addition on the outer right that slopes down from the eaves line, featuring a door and a small square window.

The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass and 4-pane designs, and the roof is covered with grey slates. The building has stone end and mutual gable stacks with thackstanes, and the original gable features beak skewputts.

The interior was not seen in 1996.

The mill and steading consist of 18th and 19th century work, built of rubble with harl pointing at intervals and stugged quoins, although they are partly in poor condition.

To the east is a 3-bay cartshed and granary range from the 18th century, which has later square-headed cart openings at the ground level and small rectangular granary windows above, featuring 3-pane lights and beak skewputts. This range is adjoined to a single bay that has a segmental cart arch. To the south is a threshing barn range with a piend-roof wheel house projecting to the right.

The U-plan group to the west has largely blank rear elevations and low, early north and east ranges with unusual swept pantiled ventilators. The roofs are gabled and piended, covered with red pantiles.
