Description
The S Building on Cupar Road in Ceres is an early 19th-century L-plan improvement steading, featuring a hayloft and cart arches, along with a detached single-bay building. Constructed from sandstone rubble and topped with pantiles, the steading has a notable east elevation that originally included three cart arches on the ground floor, with simple hayloft openings above. The cart arches on the right have segmental heads and timber two-leaf doors, while the arch on the left has been infilled with concrete to create a bus stop shelter.
On the courtyard elevation, there is a wing to the left with hayloft openings, and a projecting wing to the right that has some openings blocked. There is also a lower attached projecting wing with a blank end elevation and a truncated gable stack.
The detached building, located immediately to the southwest, is a low single-storey structure with a central timber door and a small high opening at the rear. It has a steeply pitched roof and truncated gable stacks at both the north and south ends.
Surrounding the property are boundary walls made of rubble-coped sandstone, located to the north and south.
