Description
The War Memorial on Main Street in Crossford is an early 20th-century structure dedicated to the First World War. It features a plain round-arched gate that leads to Crossford Village Hall. Above the gates, there is decorative foliage detail, including thistles, which rises to a central plaque. This black plaque commemorates the men from the village who fell in the European war, with their names and the surrounding border painted in gold, while the border itself is light blue and dated 1914-1918. At the top, there is a gold-coloured crown and a red-painted standing lion with raised forelegs. Flanking the gate are panels, with a blue and white saltire on the right and a red and yellow lion rampant on the left. A small section of flanking railings features flower and bird detail.
