Description
7 Rosebank on Valley Drive in Leslie consists of two pairs of neighbouring single-storey, semi-detached cottages built in the later 19th century. Each pair has six bays and is mirrored about the center. The cottages are constructed from squared rubble in Aberdeen Bond, featuring contrasting long and short work ashlar quoins, as well as window and door margins. The doorways are deep-set and moulded, with deeply chamfered edges and stone bracketed cornice canopies. The eaves are deeply overhanging, showcasing exposed rafter ends.
The principal elevations are symmetrical, with a central door for each cottage flanked by windows. The return elevations have two broadly spaced windows. The rear elevations feature rubble construction outbuildings, both free-standing and attached, serving all properties.
All windows have been modernized. The cottages have grey slate roofs with piended designs, shouldered and coped stugged ashlar end stacks, and a central short stack with moulded coping. Some octagonal chimney cans are still retained, and there are modern rooflights and solar panels on No. 3.
Inside, Nos 5 and 7 retain original plasterwork ceiling roses and coving, with No. 5 also featuring two gas lamps in the entrance hall.
The boundary walls consist of a low saddle-back coped rubble wall for Nos 1 and 3, which rises on falling ground and becomes a terrace wall at No. 7, with openings leading to the street.
