181 High Street in Burntisland is an 18th-century building with a later addition and modern alterations at the rear. It is a two-storey, L-plan structure featuring a two-storey addition at the angle, serving as a dwelling with shops on the ground floor, situated within an irregular terrace. The ground floor is finished in painted cement render, while the extension is made of squared and snecked whinstone with coursed ashlar. The rear is covered in dry-dash, and there are wide band courses and eaves courses.

On the south elevation facing High Street, there is a small shop at the center with a door to the right and a display window to the left. There is also a central door shop flanked by display windows on both sides. The first floor has three windows, with a piended roof to the right and a flat-roofed extension to the left.

The ground floor features fixed plate glass display windows, while the first floor right has a sash and case window with a 20-pane glazing pattern in the older part of the building. The extension has sash and case windows with a 4-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with modern red pantiles, and there is a coped and hipped ashlar stack with a can.
