Description
51 Maxwell Avenue in Westerton, Bearsden, is a building designed by J A W Grant with Raymond Unwin as a consultant, constructed between 1913 and 1915. This single storey and attic block features a symmetrical design with six houses, showcasing the English Arts and Crafts style. The exterior is harled, with timber-framed attic gables located near each end. The chimney stacks are set below the apex and are also harled at the ends, while the other stacks are made of exposed brickwork. The roofs are covered with slate. The ground floor has tripartite windows with small-paned upper sashes, most of which are still intact. The eaves line varies, and the roof has a sweeping shape with timber brackets over the inner doors. Additionally, there are flat-roofed dormers and recessed porches on either side of the building.
