Description

The stables at Gartshore House, built around 1880, are possibly the work of James Thomson of Glasgow. They feature Scots Baronial detailing and are arranged in four ranges around a square courtyard. The principal south elevation is constructed of bull-faced yellow ashlar with roll-moulding. It has a tall center section with a round-arched pend, a corbelled gable topped with an ogee-roofed bellcote, and advanced ends with intermediate wall-head dormers, all designed with crow-stepped features. The building includes sash windows, coped stacks, and slate roofs.
