Description

Kilmaurs Place is an ancient mansion that was once the seat of the Cunninghame family, earls of Glencairn. The western end features a ruined keep, while the eastern portion is a 17th century dwelling that has been converted into a farmhouse. The building has a T shape on plan, with a square wing projecting to the rear that contains a staircase. The front is creamwashed and consists of one storey with raised flat dormers, three small windows, and a central doorway. It has a ridge roof with crowstepped gables and skews.
