Clepington Sluice Chamber, 371 Clepington Road, Dundee

Clepington Sluice Chamber, built in 1873 by J and A Leslie for the Dundee Water Commissioners, is a single-storey castellated sluice house designed on an octagonal lozenge plan. The exterior features droved ashlar with polished ashlar dressings and a snecked rubble rear, topped with an encircling corbelled castellated parapet.

On the Clepington Road side, there are two bipartite windows and single lights at the chamfered angles. The western end has a cylindrical turret with a roll-moulded string course and a roundel at the first floor, also with a castellated parapet. The entrance porch on the eastern side has a crow-stepped gable, carved skewputts, and a roundel. The rear elevation is blind. The roof of the porch is slate, and the windows are sash and case with a 2-pane glazing pattern.

Inside, the chamber remains unaltered, featuring six original geared sluice valves made by Glenfield and Co Ltd from Kilmarnock, a pressure recorder by George Kent, and gauges by Shaffer and Budenberg, which operate three underground pipes.

The property is enclosed by a low rubble-built boundary wall and includes a wrought-iron gate.
