Description
9 Cumberland Terrace in Annan is a two-storey terrace building constructed in 1852 by J Jackson. The terrace is stepped to follow the slope of the land and primarily consists of houses with two bays. Each house features paired pilastered doorcases, with No. 1 (the westernmost) having a pend to the west, a shop door and window at the eastern end, and a bipartite window on the first floor. There are further two bays and a paired doorcase facing Solway Street, although one door is blocked. The exterior is finished with stugged red coursers, polished dressings, and architraves, showcasing a variety of glazing patterns, including original 12-pane windows and some modern replacements. Architectural details include an eaves band, a cavetto cornice, end stacks, and slate roofs. The terrace is set behind small gardens, except at the eastern end, and features low boundary walls with gatepiers that have pilaster details and cornices.
