7 Victoria Terrace, Moffat Road, Dumfries

1 Victoria Terrace, located on Moffat Road in Dumfries, was built around 1830 for Nos 1-4, while Nos 5-7 and No 1 Moffat Road were constructed around 1860 by Alexander Crombie. This long terrace features two stories and a basement, showcasing classical architectural details. The terrace consists of eight west-facing two-bay houses arranged in symmetrical pairs, with each pair having shallow, advanced wide outer gables and a central narrow linking bay that contains a pend. The ninth house faces the return elevation to Moffat Road.

The houses at Nos 1-4 are made of painted brick, while Nos 5-7 are constructed from ashlar stone. All houses have corniced ground floor openings and a cill course at the first floor. The entrance bays feature tripartite doorpieces, with the inner doors paired, and single windows on the first floor. The second bays have projecting ground floor tripartites and bipartite windows on the first floor. The design includes shaped skews, gabled dormers, axial stacks, and slate roofs. The elevation facing Moffat Road has four bays, with three being prominent and one recessed, and features a two-storey canted window in a wide gable.

To the west, there are private gardens at a lower level, accessible across the terrace access road. The terrace is bordered by a wall with a balustrade along the roadside, complete with piers and steps leading to the garden.
