Description
Circa 1845., 2-storey 3-bay rectangular-plan symmetrical villa, now subdivided, service wing to E and stable block. Cream sandstone, polished ashlar front with droved dressings, squared and snecked stugged rubble to rear and sides. Base course; cill courses to ground and 1st floor; architraved windows with bracketted cills; eaves cornice with blocking course bearing tablet.
S (FRONT) ELEVATION: architraved doorway at centre with consoled cornice, deep-set panelled door and rectangular plate glass fanlight; single window at 1st floor above. Outer bays with single windows to ground and first floor.
N (REAR) ELEVATION: M-piend; central bay with 2 single windows, at 1st floor with balconette. Bay to left with modern conservatory at ground floor, 3 windows of various sizes at 1st floor. Bay to right with door inserted in former window at ground floor, single window at 1st floor above.W ELEVATION: modern faorestair with glazed porch to centre bay. Outer bays with single windows at 1st floor, to right with hortus fenestralis. Coped wallhead stack to left.
E ELEVATION: lower 2-storey service wing projecting to right and centre bays with single windows. Coped wallhead stack to right of main block. STABLE BLOCK: single storey and hayloft, rectangular-plan stable block to NE; squared and snecked stugged rubble with piend roof; large carriage opening (modern door) and single roof with small-pane fanlight; hayloft breaking eaves in half-piended dormer.
Timber sash and case windows, mostly 12-pane, 2 plate glass windows to front elevation. Slate piend roof to lead flashings; 2 wallhead stack (see above), 2 central stacks, octagonal cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1992.
BOUNDARY WALLS AND GATEPIERS: tall rubble wall with semi-circular coping to front, rear and sides, 1 droved ashlar gatepier with cut-away arises and ogee coping, 1 square coped ashlar pier.
