Description

This building, known as 2, 16, and 30 Patriothall, is a three-storey U-plan range of workers' housing designed by John Starforth in 1859. It features painted brick construction and includes balconies and enclosed stair towers. The first and second floors of the main range have open galleries supported by cast-iron brackets and adorned with spear-headed railings. The stair towers have round-arched openings with long and short surrounds, while the windows are segmental-arched, and the doors are boarded.

On the northwest elevation of the principal range, there are nine bays with a swept piended roof over the central stair tower. Each floor has paired doorways in the second and eighth bays, with single windows in the other bays. The east elevation of the west range consists of five bays, featuring a piend-roofed stair tower in the fourth bay, paired doorways in the first bay, and single windows in the remaining bays. The west elevation of the east range mirrors the east elevation of the west range. The building showcases a variety of glazing patterns in the sash and case windows, which were likely small-pane originally. The roof is made of grey slate, with coped brick ridges and gablehead stacks.

The interiors were not seen in 1993.
