Description
The Albert Memorial, located in the center of Charlotte Square gardens in Edinburgh, was designed by David Bryce in 1873, with the statue created by Sir John Steell between 1870 and 1876. The memorial features a plinth made of Peterhead granite, adorned with corner groups of figures by D. W. Stevenson, Clark Stanton, and William Brodie. The third stage includes bas-reliefs by Brodie and Handyside Ritchie. At the top, there is a prominent bronze equestrian statue of Prince Albert dressed in a field marshal's uniform.
Surrounding the octagonal garden are walls and stepped embankments made of ashlar, along with cast-iron railings featuring anthemion motifs, which were added in 1947.
