Description

20 Randolph Lane is an early 19th century mews block that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey building with a rectangular plan, centrally located on Randolph Lane. The exterior features broached ashlar sandstone with polished dressings, projecting cills, and long and short quoins.

On the southwest elevation, there are four bays. To the left, there is a pair of vertically-boarded timber garage doors that share a stone lintel. To the right of centre is a modern garage door with a cement lintel, and to the outer right, there is another vertically-boarded timber garage door with a cement lintel. The first floor has irregular fenestration, including a tripartite window on the left.

The southeast elevation is mostly blank, featuring an M-gable design with a pair of vertically-boarded timber doors at ground level. The doors are two-leaf to the left and a four-panel door with a plate glass rectangular fanlight to the right.

On the northeast elevation, there are four bays. At ground level, there is a pair of modern garage doors that share a cement lintel, located centrally. To the right, there is a two-leaf vertically-boarded timber garage door with glazed upper panels and louvred ventilators. There is also a four-panel former two-leaf timber door with a two-pane rectangular fanlight to the right. The first floor has irregular fenestration.

The northwest elevation has two bays, featuring a four-leaf vertically-boarded folding garage door with a cement lintel on the left at ground level, and a window to the right. The first floor has irregular fenestration, which includes a piended window breaking the eaves to the left and a modern casement window to the right.

The building displays a variety of fenestration and has a grey slate M-roof with modern skylights. It features cast-iron rainwater goods, rendered and broached ashlar ridge and gablehead stacks, and a broached ashlar shouldered wallhead stack. The stacks are corniced and coped, with circular cans, and the skews are also coped.

The interiors were not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
