Description

7 Antigua Street is a near-symmetrical double tenement building dating from around 1800. It features slightly advanced shopfronts on the ground floor and has a four-storey and attic structure with a seven-bay elevation facing Antigua Street. The building is constructed of droved ashlar stone, with rubble at the rear, and includes an eaves cornice and regular fenestration.

On the principal elevation, the central stair bay has a flush timber door with a letterbox fanlight above, framed by painted margins and a cornice. To the far left, there is a modern shopfront with a central door. The inner left features a timber shopfront with an ornamental cast iron grille on the stallriser, classical details, and a modillioned cornice supported by consoles. To the right, there is a much-altered shopfront, retaining its modillioned cornice and console supports. The roof has a single pedimented dormer on the far left and a canted dormer on the far right.

The rear elevation consists of six bays and includes two nepus gables, with a pitched roof dormer on the far left. The glazing is predominantly plate glass in timber sash and case windows, with modern glazing on the ground floor. The central stair bay has 12-pane glazing, while the third floor features 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, excluding the central bay. The dormers have timber fascias and grey slate roofs, with a pitched roof on the left and a piend roof on the right. The main roof is also pitched and covered in grey slate, with stone skews and skewputts. There is one corniced, droved ashlar ridge stack on the far left, two corniced droved ashlar stacks on the front pitch at the center, and one corniced rendered gablehead stack on each nepus gable, all with circular cans.
