Description

93 Newington Road is a terraced house built around 1811, featuring two storeys and a raised basement. It has a near symmetrical design with 24 bays, including advanced pavilions at the north and south ends and outer bays flanking a central pavilion. The house is constructed from cream sandstone ashlar, with rusticated stonework at the ground level and coursed rubble on the sides and rear. Architectural details include a base course, band course, cill course, and fluted aprons beneath the first-floor windows, as well as a cornice and blocking course. The central pavilion is adorned with a swagged wallhead panel, while the terminal pavilions have plain panels. There are later Victorian shops added to the street.

On the west elevation facing Newington Road, there is an additional two-bay block to the north with a door on the outer right, featuring a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, along with regular window arrangements. The central pavilion has four bays with advanced outer bays, two central doorways with panelled doors and plate glass fanlights, single windows above, and tripartite windows in segmental-arched panels at the first floor. The north pavilion and linking block consist of three bays for each house, with doorways on the outer right, panelled doors, plate glass fanlights, and regular fenestration. Similarly, the south pavilion and linking block also have three bays for each house, with doorways on the outer left, panelled doors, plate glass fanlights, and regular fenestration.

The south elevation facing Salisbury Road features a shop at ground level, with single windows on the first floor to the left and right of the centre, and a rendered wallhead stack. The windows are predominantly plate glass, timber, sash and case, with some being 12-pane. The roof is pitched with grey slate, featuring coped ridge stacks and moulded cans.
