Description

Circa 1975. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay T-plan villa on corner site with outbuilding to rear and modern lean-to extension to SW; cream sandstone, squared and snecked rubble with stugged ashlar dressings ashlar mullions; chamfered reveals; bargeboards and king-posts to dromerheads and porch; timber brackets to gables.

SE (FRONT) ELEVATION: broan adanced gabled bay to left with 2-storey canted window with leaded half-piend roof, dcorative cast-iron balcony and railing to 1st floor window. Moulded shouldered-arch doorway to centre under slated and finialled stone porch, panelled entrance door with plate glass rectangular fanlight; small single window above. Bipartite windows at ground and 1st floor in bay to right; 1st floor window breaking eaves with gabled dormerhead bearing carved panel with entwined letters M and T above.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: gable with shouldered coped apex stack and narrow window to left; much altered single storey outbuilding withsingle window in end gable.

SW (MERCHISTON AVENUE) ELEVATION: gable to right with coped apex stack and timber mullioned bipartite window at ground floor to left; single window above. Bay to left with single storey modern lean-to extension at ground floor; single window above breaking eaves with finialled dormerhead flanked by small windows.

NE ELEVATION: left bay advanced with central apex stack shouldered at 1st floor level. Two single windows at ground and 1 at 1st floor of bay to right; narrow single storey lean-to extension to rear.

Plate glass glazing to timber sash and case windows; slate roof, lead flashings; timber mullioned bipartite dormer with dormerhead no NW; 3 apex (see above) and 1 central coped ridge stack, octagonal cans; single storey stone outbuilding with pitched slate roof to NE corner of grounds. INTERIOR: not seen 1992.

High rubble boundary wall with ashlar coping (railings missing), ornamental cast-iron pedestrian and carriage gates.
