Description
The Catherine Sinclair Monument, located on North Charlotte Street in Edinburgh, was designed by David Bryce and constructed between 1866 and 1868, with sculptural work by John Rhind. This cream sandstone monument is of the Gothic style and resembles an Eleanor Cross. It stands on a stepped hexagonal pedestal and features a hexagonal structure with three receding stages that are blind arcaded. The monument is topped with a crocketed pinnacle. Each bay contains a colonnetted pointed arch niche, along with a gable that is both crocketed and finialed. The design includes dividing buttresses, with gableheads at the first stage adorned with trefoils and at the second stage featuring the monogram "CS." There is also a later inscription at the base of the monument.
